At A Glance, NALCO

Is founded and run by husband-wife team of myself (hand therapist) and wifey Louise (physiotherapist), and we are experienced and passionate about orthopedic and pain relief works, and it has a few departments / functions:

  1. MEDIA & EDUCATION arm where we research and publish information on pains, injuries and conditions of the bones, muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments (ie physical) to help patients understand their pains and conditions
  2. PRODUCTS for pain relief, rehab and other solutions
  3. CONSULTANCY & OPERATIONS arm where we manage and operate physiotherapy, hand therapy, massage clinics

Clinicians First

We still love what we do, that is we both still enjoy treating and helping individuals and patients with painful sports and orthopedic conditions and injuries, and that’s why we created this site as a media company that focus on sports, orthopedic and musculoskeletal pains and discomfort:

  1. bones, muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments and nerve injuries and conditions in the following regions: back and neck (spinal), shoulder, hip, groin, thigh, knee, calf, ankle, foot, toes; elbow, forearm, wrist, hand and fingers
  2. these usually falls under the care of hand therapists; which can be hand physiotherapists, hand occupational therapists, podiatrists and even massage therapists

No one likes pain.

And that’s the main key things that we deal with day-in-day-out in our clinics and in our professional lives as clinicians.

We get so many patients and individuals asking us on pain products and solutions, so we decided to do some research and create a list of resources to help individuals in pain manage their pain.

Don’t get us wrong, the stuff here isn’t meant to be medical or prescriptive in nature. These pain relief recommendations aren’t meant to replace you seeking medical attention from trained and licensed professionals such as doctors and physiotherapists.

Please always seek medical attention before starting any health supplementation or exercise regime.

About NALCO

“Nalco” means “Nigel and Louise Companies”, and we started this as a combination of our expertise and experience; as well as both our joint interests to help people with sports and orthopedic conditions.

I love working with my wife, and I will always try my best to find a way to work with her – corny, I know, but I just like it haha! It’s always meaningful and fun when I’m working with my wife. It’s the best.

We have been getting funny-but-sad quips by people who said our enjoyment of working with each other will be shortlived because they just cant, but for us, we’ve been working together since 2008 and counting =)

  • together with my wife, co-owner and co-founder of a $65 startup freelance therapy to a 7-figure therapy business with multiple clinics and dozens of the best therapists and front counter staff which was eventually acquired by a larger health company
  • an income investor, investing in high quality, safe and reliable dividend stocks for passive income
  • a husband to a wonderful wife Louise, who is a senior spine physiotherapist and also co-founder and partner in many of my ventures
  • a father to my wonderful, beautiful children (thank you God and Louise)
  • a son/son-in-law, brother/brother-in-law to my family
  • a friend
  • a Christian who loves Jesus

Personally, I love trying my best to make a difference to my family, loved ones, friends, businesses and clients, and I’ll do my best to serve you too =)

About the founders: Louise

My name is Louise, and personally, I am happily married to Nigel and have a baby at this point in writing (we hope to have more in time to come).

I enjoy hiking and long walks, I enjoy going NTUC (it’s a supermart – yes, I’m a weirdo, but my husband loves going there too). I enjoy eating ice cream, yogurt, chips (yes, all the unhealthy stuff =p), I can’t live without my news (yes, I’m a news junkie), and I’m a Christian.

Professionally, I graduated with Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physiotherapy from Queen Margaret’s University in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2006; and I have been practicing my physiotherapy skills since then, specializing in spine and general physiotherapy. I also love learning more skills and techniques to help my patients, adding skills such as visceral manipulation and craniosacral therapy.

I’ve worked in a variety of spinal and musculoskeletal setting such as Changi General Hospital, Singapore’s Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Following the time spent in outpatients physiotherapy and rehabilitation of the spine and musculoskeletal injuries, I started to develop an interest in back and neck injuries and rehabilitation.

I really enjoy my work tremendously as a physiotherapist and have much satisfaction from seeing my patients improve and recover and is a strong advocate of independence and rehabilitation. Being an active and outdoor individual, I believe in being healthy and having a balanced lifestyle to achieve the best quality of life.
